Birthday Card

This is the card that I made for our Son for his birthday.

If I haven't mentioned it before, I just LOVE the Woodland Embossing Folder. It is so versatile and can be used pretty much all year long for different occasions. I am hoping to create a card for every occasion and season to share along the way.

For this card, I laid the folder open and on the inside of the folder where it says Sizzix, I stamped the Elk with Early Expresso onto the embossing folder and then I placed my card stock inside and closed it carefully and then ran it through the Big Shot.

After I removed the card stock, I lightly brayered over the trees with Crumb Cake just enough to give it a little color.

I added some ribbon and attached the layer to a piece of Night of Navy card stock and then onto the card base.

The color in between the trees was my attempt to make it look like a dark night....need to work on that ;-)

Here are the supplies I used:

Hope you have a great day!!  If you have any questions about this technique, I'll be happy to try and answer them.

Rudolph!!

I had the pleasure of attending my up line's Stamp A Stack on Halloween day. She had a funeral to attend that morning and she asked if I would be able to come and keep an eye on things till she returned.  I was happy to help her out.

She told me to please make the cards, too, but although it was way too busy for me to actually sit down and make any cards, I was able to get some photos taken and I received the directions so I could make them at home.  Her idea was for me to be able to make them there, but it just didn't work out that way and I was happy to float around the room doing whatever was necessary to help the other stampers out.

Here is one of the awesome cards they made that day.  I was able to follow the directions with the photos and make my own at home.

Isn't this the cutest card?  And, it's SO simple and easy to make.  All you need is those cute little Reindeer clips and some Enameled dots, card stock and DSP.

Here are the supplies we used:

Card stock:
Merry Moments designer series paper (138450) 5 x 3 and 4 x 1
Whisper White 4 1/2 x 1 1/2"

Inks:
Real Red

Embellishments:

Punch:

Instructions:
  1. Stamp Merry Christmas in Real Red ink on the Whisper White 4 1/2 x 2 1/2.  Punch one end with the Banner Triple Punch.
  2. Use the Banner Triple Punch on the Merry Moments DSP 4 x 1 and cut one end.  Adhere this piece to the back of the sentiment.
  3. Adhere the sentiment to the front of the Merry Moments 5 x 3 3/4.  Add the Reindeer Paper Clip to the front and the Red Enamel Dot for his nose.
  4. Add the Merry Moments 5 x 3 3/4" piece to the Old Olive 5 1/4' x 4" and then to the Whisper White card base.
If you would like to re create this adorable card, you can find all the supplies HERE on my website or by clicking the links.

Hope you enjoy this card!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I just wanted to share a Halloween card that we made at October's stamp class.
I guess I should have taken a photo of the inside of it, too...as the little flap opens up to reveal the sentiment inside.

Fast, easy and cute!!
Love those spider web doilies...and they can be used for other things as well, just turn them over to reveal the other side, which is white.

Hope you have a fun and safe Halloween.
We are just now starting to get Trick or Treaters...but wanted to get a card up before the day was finished.

For anyone living nearby, I am having a Class on November 7th from 9:30am - 11:30am.

Here is one of the cards that we'll be doing.  It's using the Northern Lights technique.

And, if you can't attend, this card is also part of the November Card Buffet.  With just a minimum $25 order, in the month of November, I will send you a PDF file with all the instructions for 3 different cards, to your e-mail.

More information on the tab at the top of this blog labeled Card Buffet.  Or sign up for my monthly newsletter where you will get notified of classes, Card Buffets and learn different tips and I also share card ideas.

Have a great night!!!

Vellum Lamp Shades

My Granddaughter and I decided to have some fun, the other night, and we made these Halloween Lamp shades.

We bought some wine glasses at our local Dollar Tree and also a package of two battery operated tea lights.

We printed a lamp shade onto Vellum and then cut it out.  Then, we just stamped our images onto the lamp shade using Staz On black ink.  We put it on our little Halloween designed wine glasses....but the image on the glasses was covered up.

This was just a 'trial' run to see how it would go.  So, we decided it would be better on just plain wine glasses with no images or writing.

So, we made another trip to the Dollar Tree, the other day, and got three different sized/shaped/colored wine glasses and are going to play with those soon, using Designer Series Paper.  We want to see if it we like it best with a stamped image on vellum or the designer paper.

It's really looks cute when the lights are turned down.  I only have one template for the lampshades so I may go in search of some more sizes and different ways to use the lamp shades.

Always looking for fun ideas to make!!

Hope you try it!  You can dress up your table for Thanksgiving/Christmas or for any type of dinner.  You can even make them to give away as little 'thank you' gifts.

Have a fantastic day!!!

Don't forget about the 15% off sale that SU is running through October 23rd. Just two more days to save on any stamp in the two catalogs....with the exception of Bundles, Host Stamps and Rotary stamps.

Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.....STOP and read!!! Sale on all stamps!

Hold the presses. Were you planning on ordering some stamp sets soon???  DO NOT ORDER, yet!!!

Yes you read that correctly.  Just, this morning, I received a notice from SU that they are going to be having a huge sale on regular priced stamps in both catalogs starting tomorrow, for 5 days ONLY.  (October 19th until October 23rd)

I do not have any more information than that as they said that they would give us more information on MONDAY.  So, I will be anxiously waiting along with you!!!

I will update you as soon as I get that information!!

I am assuming that:

This does NOT include bundles (stamp set with a punch or framelits) since they are already at a 15% discount, rotary stamps, host sets or clearance rack stamps.

But, I will let you know the full scoop, tomorrow morning!!

If you had been planning on ordering some stamps soon.... take a break, today and look through the Stampin' Up! Holiday and Regular Catalog and make a list of all the stamps you would like.

THEN, Check back on Monday for any additional updates.

Remember, when you order, to use the Hostess Code for this Month  X7ETPBKR and you will receive a hand stamped card and special little gift in the mail from me.

IF your order totals $150 or more, do not use the hostess code as you will earn hostess rewards for yourself.

NOW is the time to take advantage of this great sale...and get those stamps you have been wanting!

WhooooHoooo!!!  Now I am off to peruse the catalogs to turn in my own order, tomorrow!!

How to use the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits

How much fun is it to create your very own little treat bags using whatever designer paper you choose?  And, then just decorate as you wish.  You can even make smaller treat bags following the instructions in the video.

Today, I am prepping for a class on Wednesday, but wanted to share this video with you as I'll be making some of these cute little treat bags to give to the gals who attend my class.  Hmmm, what to put inside...that is the question ;-)

I'll have some photos for you in the next day or two.

Enjoy the video and if you want to purchase this cool Framelit set, you can just click on this link.

Have a fantastic day!!!

Getting a head start on Christmas

These are just a couple of the gift tags that I made yesterday.  I made about 12 of them.  I had fun putting them together.

I have to say that I realllllly love SU's holiday Designer Series Paper called Home for Christmas.
I have used this paper on cards, tags and even a count down to Christmas flip book I am creating.

I also used the Very Vanilla 1 1/4 Subtle Stripes Satin Ribbon on the tags.

The ribbon doesn't show up well on the gift tags.

Here is a better photo of it. It's very pretty!!!

I also used the red glimmer paper, it just adds so much to cards and other projects as well.

Red Glimmer Paper by Stampin' Up!

I'll share some more of the fun I have been having in my stamp room as the days and weeks go by.  So stay tuned.

I really need to get my Christmas cards started.  Actually, I have them started, just need to pare down the ideas and get busy getting them all made.

I KNOW...it's not even Halloween, yet, but I get distracted so easily that I need a really big head start on Christmas.

Yesterday, I sat down and watched a movie but wanted to be productive at the same time, so I worked on the gift tags, a little Advent countdown project and two more projects that I'll be sharing with you soon.

Enjoy your day!!!

Hugs,
Char

Let the Fall decorating begin!!

Yes, Fall has finally arrived!!!  It's been a long drawn out summer....actually starting in February.  Not really, but the clear blue skies and warm weather started in February and we are just now starting to get down into the 60's and 50's.   Yesterday, was in the 70's so it's still not our typical Fall.  But, who's complaining?

I decided to get some fall decorating done.  I don't do an overabundance of decorating but one thing I did do, this year, was to make myself a framed printable that I found online.

I went to Pinterest and just typed in "fall printables" and came up with a boatload of them.  I chose my printable and printed it off onto Very Vanilla card stock and put it into a frame that I happened to have out in the garage.  I decided that I might like it better if I had a larger frame and had a piece of coordinated card stock as a mat behind the printable.

So, yesterday, I went to the Goodwill in the next town and I found several frames that might work.  :-)  I'll see if I like it better that way.

While I was out, I found some other fall 'buys'.  Every thrift store I went to, had their Halloween/Fall items displayed prominently.  I didn't want to bring home more 'stuff' just because it was on sale.  But, couldn't resist these things.

I got a pair of these wall sconces.  $1 each.  Hmmmmm, I don't even use tapered candles anymore but oh well, they are still cute.

This cute glass Pumpkin cookie jar was $5.  Probably wouldn't have paid that much at a yard sale but the money was going to help shelter animals, and I liked it....so felt it was a good purchase.

A nice big platter for $1.

Can't wait to see what they'll have for Christmas decor!

Have a great day!!!
