Paper Pumpkin

It's so much fun when my Paper Pumpkin arrives.  I never know what is in the box till I lift that blue tissue paper.
I just love how it's packaged.  Tissue paper, which I keep, and a cute little pumpkin sticker

Then, I pull back the tissue....and there's the current project.
Hmmmm, what is it??
Well, this is as far as I got and then had to make a quick trip into town....which wasn't quick after all.....hours later, I returned....and never did get back to seeing what all is in the box.
Then, we got busy making applesauce.....so this project will have to wait until another day....and I will be sure to show you what we made.

Have a great day and remember to take time to
Paws N Stamp!!!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well, I have missed a couple of days of posting due to having our Granddaughter here visiting.  We have been B U S Y!!!

Yesterday, we had to make a trip into Redmond to pick up some ingredients to make applesauce and a cute little project that we are going to make on Friday.

Today, we are making applesauce from the 80# of apples we got on Friday.  We had two big 40# boxes....one Gala and one Jazz.  There was just no way we were going to get them all ate before they spoiled and I really don't want tons of baked goodies tempting me!!!

So, I decided to make applesauce and apple butter/ Here we are washing the apples. There are more to the left of the sinks.....
Then, we cut them up in quarters, cored them....and put them into crock pots and big pots on the stove.
Then, of course, I ran out of big pots so I resurrected my old crock pot out in the garage to lend a hand.

And, of course, I will make good use of the apples that are left in each of the boxes.
We'll be eating most of them, but I am sure one pie or some sort of dessert will appear from the rest of them in the box.

You ask how I came to have 80# of apples?  It's not even apple season.  Well, sadly a semi truck over turned on a highway up on a pass where a local tow truck was called to tow the truck.  They also get the produce as part of that bargain, I guess.  Not sure how that works out.....but anyway, then the tow truck company makes them available to the people in town.  Word gets around....and then WHAM, the apples are ALL GONE ;-)

Now, at $20 a box...that comes to about .25cents a pound.  That's pretty cheap!!!

Hope you have a great day!!!

And, don't forget to take time to Paws N Stamp!!

OH....and if you are interested....check out my SU Website where you will find this weeks DEALS!!!

Card Drive for Emma

I am sharing a card that I made with some punches. I am sending it to a little girl named Emma who has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. I learned about a card drive for Emma on this blog post. Here is a note from Emma’s family:

Tuesday, October 22, Emma went in for a quick check of a persistent cough as well as to address some concerns about her recent fatigue and pale coloring.  A chest x-ray didn't reveal any fluid in her lungs but her primary care physician detected an enlarged spleen.  She suggested we take Emma for blood work to rule out mononucleosis.  Within an hour of the blood work, we had preliminary results of severe anemia.   At this point, her primary care physician gently warned us of a possible diagnosis of leukemia.  By 2pm that afternoon we were checking into the hematology/oncology clinic at Dayton Children's and meeting the amazing staff who would travel this 2+ year journey with us.

Card Drive for Emma

I plan on adding a few more cards to send her way.  If you could take a few minutes to read the blog post about Emma and if you can, send a card or two for Emma and her family! The details are all on that blog post link.

Thanks so much, in advance!!!

And, remember to take time to Paws N Stamp!!

Ship Card Challenge

Well, I did it!!!  Not sure I am extremely happy with the results, but I got two cards made with the The Open Sea stamp set from Stampin' UP!.

After stamping the image, I could see that it was not exactly like the other stamp from the other company.  Close....very close....but after I really looked at the other stamp, it was all one stay.  The map and ship on the top layer.

So, I had to play with the SU stamp to come up with something similar.  I also really checked it out and there are some slight differences to the ship, too, but you can't really tell at first glance.

Anyway.....
Here is the original one that I was trying to recreate, here.

Of course, I had no DSP that even slightly resembled the other photo from the other day.  So, I had to recreate something that sort of looked similar.  So, I stamped the map image in Soft Suede onto a piece of Naturals White card stock.  Then, I sponged Marina Mist, So Saffron and lightly sponged Soft Suede.  I stamped the world map onto a piece of Sahara sand....and then stamped the ship on top using Early Expresso ink.
The first card that I made, I used Marina Mist card stock and didn't care for the outcome so am not sharing it.
Then, I decided to try and recreate the 'blue' in the original card.  So, I stamped as before but this time onto a piece of Soft Sky card stock and then sponged with Sahara Sand, Early Expresso and So Saffron.

I added a little anchor that I stamped and cut out. I also cut the ship out and mounted it with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I am still not completely happy with my results....so will probably play with it a little more.

Have a great day and remember to Paws N Stamp!!!

Ship Ahoy Mateys!!!

So, for today's share.....

No, this card was not made with a SU set, it was a card I made, back in 2009, when I demonstrated for another company.  And, I am sure if you search way back in the archives, you may even find that I shared it once before.

BUT, Stampin' UP! has an almost identical set, and I am happy...as I loved that set.  So, now I am going to try to recreate it using SU supplies.

Look on page 101 of the catalog or go to my website  to see SU's set.  It is almost identical.

Anyway, if you have this SU set, and you want to share what you have made with it, I would love to see it.  Just send it to My e-mail .

This is how I have been feeling for over a week or two, now.  Do any of you suffer from not being able to sleep at night?  Oh gosh, my days and nights are all turned around again!!!  I start out by going to bed at the normal hour but then within a couple of hours, I wake up....and think it's time to get up....and notice it's just midnight.  But, I am awake so I get up and then I either surf the internet, make cards or other things.

But, then, I get so involved in those things that all of a sudden it's 5am and it's time to 'get up'.  So, I try to stay awake till the next bedtime hour, but it's next to impossible.

It's great in that, at night, I can accomplish so much more (because of no distractions).....and I end up getting all caught up on my stamping obligations, creating new cards, surfing the web, catching up on e-mail...BUT, then all of a sudden it's MORNING.....when I normally would be getting up, and need to be on top of things....and I just can't stay awake!  So, I finally lay down to catch a few winks and then it's afternoon....and the whole process starts all over again!!

Well, I have taken a few steps to try and get myself back on track.  I began walking again.....turned my phone off at night (with the exception of emergency calls), and bought something called Tea for Sleep which is herbal.  We'll see how that all works.

I'll share, tomorrow, the card I came up with using SU's set!

Have a great day!!
And, remember to take time to Paws N Stamp!

Update to Sympathy Card Post

Good Morning AGAIN!!!

I posted a sympathy card the other day and inadvertently left off the information as to what supplies I used to create it.  I was asked to share them and I thought, if one person asks, others might want to know as well.  I promise to share how to cut your card stock and share some other card photos using this idea.

This card has a little flap at the bottom that opens to the left.  Such a fun and different way to make a card!

Anyway, here are the supplies that I used to create this card.

Card Stock:  Island Indigo, Whisper White.
Ink: Early Expresso
Stamp Set: Thoughts & Prayers #127805 c
Punch: Scallop Trim Border Punch #118402

Here is the inside, again.

Have a great day!!!  And, remember to take some time to Paws N Stamp!!

Blog Candy WINNER!!!!

I am SOOOO sorry, I got so wrapped up in getting my newsletter out, yesterday, and doing some other things, that I totally FORGOT to post the Blog Candy winner!

Oh I drew it!!!!  Just forgot to POST it!!!

I had a very sophisticated way of drawing the name....I just put each name on a little strip of paper.....folded them all up and then TOSSED them in the air.  I had a specific spot, picked out ahead of time and which ever name landed nearest that spot....that would be the winner.

I had thought of letting Annie pick one, oh that would have been FUN, especially for her!

Nope, I decided to do it this way and you know what?   I did it a second time....just for kicks just to see if the same name would come up.....what were the chances, right? (although I would have still kept the first name) and that same name hit that spot.  So, I figured, now this IS sophisticated!!!  And, it was meant to be!!

Oh wait, you just want to know WHO won, right?  Well, the winner was.....

Drum roll................................................

Loree Tanner!!!!

Please contact me at Pawsnstamp@centurylink.net so that we can make arrangements to get your prize to you!!!

When Skies are Gray

I am so tired of all this rain, snow, gray skies....but I know that everyone has weather issues where they live!!  So, am trying HARD not to complain.   So, I have been holed up in my BLUE stamp room working hard on my Stamp of the Month card kits and getting my Tutorials typed up.
Last night, I got to making cards and felt like I needed to press the medic alert button and tell them,  "HELP, I'M making cards and I can't stop!!!! "  Ok, that was silly, I know, but when that muse hits, you just don't want to quit while you are ahead!!    But, all of a sudden I looked at the time and it was 6 am. Whooooops!

I don't know but from time to time,  I seem to go in spurts where I just want to stay up all night and play.  Eventually, though, you have to sleep ;-)

Anyway, here is one of the cards that I came up with while I had that 'muse' going on!!!

Supplies used: SAB set "See ya Later", Framed Tulips embossing folder, Extra Lg Oval scallop punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, Smokey Slate card stock, Whisper White card stock and a scrap of Daffodil Yellow card stock and Smokey Slate ink pad.

I love the SAB set (that you get FREE with a $50 order) called "See ya Later". There are so many cute verses in that set.

You can view the Sale-A-Bration flyer here.

Have a fantastic day.....and remember to come back tomorrow to find out what the Weekly Deals from Stampin' UP are!!

Sympathy Card for a Friend's Family

There eventually comes a time when you need to make a Sympathy card.  It's one card that I don't do ahead or have on hand when the occasion arises, like I would any other card....say a Get Well card, Thank you card or Thinking of You....well you get my drift.

It just feels weird, to me, to have a Sympathy card made up, waiting and ready for whomever may need one in the future.  I like to sort of personalize it to fit the people I am sending it to.  That's not to say if someone does do that, that it is wrong....it just doesn't work for me.
Anyway, I needed to make one for the family of an online friend that passed away last week.  She was the list mom of one of the stamping groups I belong to.  She had pancreatic cancer, so we sort of went through it with her and knew that this day would eventually come.

She was such a blessing to others all the way through her entire ordeal.  She kept up her cheerful demeanor even as she slowly went downhill.....even sending the Yahoo group one final e-mail, telling us all goodbye, (now THAT was hard) a week or so before she died.  What an inspiration on how to face life!!

I have to add that I have another friend that also found out she had pancreatic cancer about the same time as Joanne.  I asked for prayer for her on the list and Joanne would keep her in her prayers and she also would send my friend cards to lift her spirits during her ordeal.  They felt a connection, with each other, even though they had never met...because of what they were going through.  My friend kept saying that she would meet her one of these days when their journey on earth was over.

I never had the privilege of meeting Joanne, although, many in the group got together every year in Des Moines, IA to 'play' for the weekend.  I am never able to attend, as it always comes at a time when my Granddaughter comes to spend the summer with us.

But, we did e-mail back and forth behind the scenes and shared some laughs over silly things.

And, she always seemed to 'know' when you needed a 'boost' and a card would arrive in the mail.

The other day, I was out in the garage sorting through some boxes (we had put all the stuff from the craft room out there when we redid the floors and painted)....so I was seeing what else I could bring back into my re-done craft room.  I opened a box with a bunch of cards and one struck my eye....and I thought, "I need to display this one, it makes me smile".  Then, I opened it up and saw that it was from Joanne.  Perfect timing....as she had passed away earlier that morning.  Thanks again, Joanne, for knowing the right thing to do at the right time ;-)

Enjoy your day!!!  And SMILE!!!

Hugs,
Char
