UPDATE: This was written months ago...probably back in April....sorry I just found it....but decided to send it anyway!!
YEAH!!! I am finally back to stamping!!!
I'd sort of gotten into a slump over the past several months. When you are traveling, and not sitting still for more than a few days, it's hard to get into the crafting mode. At least for me!
Then, I got into a stamping mood....but didn't have enough room to 'set up' everything. It was very frustrating to me.
SO, I bought a 6 foot craft table from Amazon and the rest is history. Yes, it's a pain finding a place to put it when it's not in use....but oh well, I NEEDED to be able to spread out so I could stamp. The little room we had converted into a craft room/office works great for keeping a lot of my supplies but then there was no room to actually use the table we had put in there. AND, a lot of my other stamp supplies are either under the bed or in the 'garage' (which means it's under the belly of the RV) and that means it's not always handy when I want to stamp.
I'll share more about stamping on the road, later, but for today, I wanted to share a few cards I made using a simple card fold that I saw online.
I thought....oh that would be fairly simple to do....not a lot of cutting or fussing. HA....what I forgot about is that once a stamper starts making cards, their mind kicks into overdrive and then they end up thinking of something different to do, using this stamp or that paper or those embellishments and that means bringing out more supplies! Before I knew it, my crafting table was overflowing with 'stuff'.
When I had my craft room, at home, it wasn't a problem....everything was within reach of my table or it was only a step or two away.....and....if I got a ton of stuff out, I could just leave and close the door till I was finished. But, in an RV....I set up my craft table and then it's all out in the main part of the RV. We have to walk around that table....squeeze in behind that table to sit....well, it's just not the as convenient....and everything has to be brought out and put on the table. BUT, at least I have a table now to leave my things set up for a day or two....it's just in the way ;-) It is what it is!! :-)
So, here is the card that I came up with. I used the Hostess Set, "Feathery Friends" #144037. I had gotten this set back in July or August after the annual catalog came out. Then, we got our 5th wheel....got on the road, and got busy volunteering this winter and stamping just took a back seat for a while, till I could figure out how to get everything organized. But, it was always on my mind!!
The card base is a piece of Very Vanilla card stock cut at 8 1/2 x 5 1/2. Then, I scored it at 4 1/4" and 1 1/4". You fold it in half and then fold the one section back. You can see in this photo.
The layers are 3" and the other one is 2 3/4. You can use two different pieces of card stock or one card stock and one designer series paper or any other combos you choose.
Mine were fairly simple but you can dress them up with ribbon, rhinestones and even use framelits or punches to cut out your layers for the front.
Since, all my punches are at home in a storage shed and my Big Shot was under the belly of our 5th wheel...and I was too lazy to go retrieve it....I just used my trimmer to cut out layers for the fronts of my cards.
Hope this all makes sense :-)

A note from Char
Hi Everyone,
Well, it's been an up and down year with my SU business.....and I was about ready to call it quits, this week, but I just can't quit without giving it another try.
We are now settled in for the Winter at an RV park in WA on the Columbia River...possibly longer if things work out and I can once again start doing classes and having fun making cards and sharing them on my blog.
For me, it's never been about the sales or how big I could get, it's about teaching people to make cards and have pride in their accomplishments. If there was only 1 person show up for my classes, it was fine with me.
But, unfortunately, over the past year, I couldn't hold classes and if you don't sell enough, you are in danger of being deactivated and I wasn't able to devote the time to do my classes, being on the road, so I am really close to being deactivated.
I had thought about just allowing that to happen and I would just teach classes but the reality is that most people WANT what you used in your classes and have a source where they can get the supplies they used.
And, to be perfectly honest, I LOVE SU's cardstock and the quality of their other products!!!!
So, that brought me to the decision that I need to try, once again, to make this work. I'm just not ready to quit.....and since I will only be working two days a week, and won't be on the road like we were there for about a year....I will have more time to devote to my card making.
So, if you are thinking about putting in an order, I would appreciate you thinking of me.
I'll also be updating my blog a LOT more often, too.
Wish me success!!!!
HUGS
Char
