Organizing Scraps

I don't know about you, but I hate to throw any scrap away that can be used for a card, later.  I was always digging through my scrap box to find just the right color for a project.

I would constantly be deciding is THIS the right blue, or THIS one.  Valuable time was wasted in the search.  I would always have to go get a piece of card stock and match it to make sure it was the right one.

Then, I got this bright idea while browsing through Wal Mart, one day.  I saw a plastic file cabinet for about $20.  I thought....HEY...this would work perfect. So, I bought some hanging files and came home and got them all set up with the names of all the SU card stock colors.

When I had a couple of hours to spare, I sat down and put my file folders tabs in with the names of all the colors of my SU card stock, alphabetically!

Then, each night while watching TV  I sat and started filing all of my card stock scraps.  It took a couple of nights, but I wasn't doing anything, anyway, so I figured I was making good use of my 'down' time.

Here is what I came up with:

It's SOOOO handy right next to my stamp table and I have made a conscious effort to file all my scraps after I am done with them.  Now, it is so easy to look for just the right piece.

Of course, if you use all different kinds of card stock from a lot of different companies, you may have to file just by color and put in dividers or something.

The bottom drawer holds my Tutorials.

I love looking for ways to make my stamp room more efficient for me, without spending lots of money!

Have a great day and don't forget to take time to Paws N Stamp!!

Finally!!! A new stamp table!!

We have had this kitchen unit for years!!  We bought it over 15+ years ago and had it down in the basement (when we lived on the ranch) for me to use as a shipping table when I was with another stamp company.

Then, 8 years ago, we moved to our present location and we put it in the garage to use for my overflow of stamping/craft supplies and a place to just store extra STUFF.

Anyway, long story short, when we redid the office/craft room floors last spring, we moved my old huge desk out to the garage and then he didn't want to bring it back in because it was just too big and it was L shaped and it barely fit through the door.  So, ever since I have been using a craft table with no storage anywhere.   It worked, but I found things got piled on top of the stamping surface because there was no room to store anything.

On Saturday, hubby decided that it was time to disassemble and reassemble this unit into my stamp room!!  I was so excited!!!!

Well, since he was busy taking off the kick plate to lower it....and making some other adjustments, I was busy cleaning out my craft room closet.  I completely gutted the closet and just started over.  Took out the bookshelf and put in Iris carts that I had out in the garage.  (I still want to go through each drawer and condense down)

Here is the finished desk!!  He even put in a desk Grommet so that we could run wires down through the desk instead of having them stretching hither and yon!!

I can't WAIT to actually start stamping on my 'new' desk.

I am still tweaking the shelves over my desk and in my closet and when I am finished, I'll post a photo!

Today, while I am doing a Stamp A Stack, he is going to put some little shelves in that space above my CD player, to hold stamps I am currently working with.

Have a GREAT day!!!
And,
Don't forget to take time to Paws N Stamp!!

Happy Dance, Happy Dance

Today, the little brown truck drove up and delivered this!!!  I have been wanting one for so long but just couldn't justify getting one, since I already have the Big Shot.

Then, I went to my Up-Line's house for a demonstrator meeting and she had both the Big Shot and the Textured Boutique for us to use to make cards.

It was so great to just use one machine for cutting out Framelits and Die cuts and the Textured Boutique for just embossing!  I was hooked!!  I decided that the next time I had to put in an order for supplies I would get this.

I couldn't wait to show it to you!

Remember, you can order 24/7 at my SU website

Have a great day and don't forget to take time to Paws N Stamp!!

Stew Recipe and Card Share

A couple of days ago, I shared a photo of the stew I had made and was asked how I made my stew. (card share to follow)

Well, to be honest, I don't have an actual recipe I follow, but here are the basic ingredients.

I start by putting my stew meat (cut into bite sized pieces) into my crock pot.  I then add the following ingredients:

1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 medium onion, chopped
2 ribs of celery, sliced (or I sometimes use celery salt)
2-3 cloves of garlic, minced (or I cheat and use garlic salt)
32 oz Beef Broth
2 cups of baby carrots
4-5 small potatoes, peeled and chopped into bite size pieces (about 3 cups)

I use a 6 qt crock pot and cook on high for about 5-7 hours depending on your crock pot with the lid on.  OR if I am going to be gone all day, then I might put it on low for about 10 hours.

I make a thickening agent with 1/4 cup of flour and 1/4 cup of water and add that to the stew to thicken it up (you can adjust that to your preference) and then add about 1 cup of either frozen or canned corn.

Cook, covered, for about 30 minutes more.  You can also add peas or other veggies....this is just how my family prefers it.

Now for the card share:

Tis the Season

Nope, not the season you were thinking of??

I love Fall and Winter because I get to use my crock pot, even more.  My husband makes fun of me because I four crock pots and I just got another one, the end of October, from my older Son who was getting rid of an extra one he had.  BUT, I gave that one to my Granddaughter.  :-)

Yesterday, I put on a big Crock Pot of stew and got busy finishing up my November Card Buffet.  Then, our Granddaughter and her boyfriend came over and brought rolls and we ate dinner and played Pinochle!!  FUN!!!

Now that my Card Buffet is done, for this month, I am getting my projects finalized for my Stamp A Stack that I am taking part in with my Up-Line.

Here is a card share!!  I really love this new set from the Holiday Catalog.  It's called "For All Things" W#135152, C #135155

I used Color Me Autumn DSP (135820) on the side of my Chocolate Chip card.  I then put down a strip of Cajun Craze card stock, that had been cut with Fringe Scissors and a piece of Blackberry Bliss 3/8" stitched Satin ribbon over that.
I stamped the leaves from the "For All Things" stamp set in Crushed Curry and So Saffron and then fussy cut them and popped them up with Stampin' Dimensionals. I stamped hello Fall from the same stamp set and added the Sizzlets (retired) leaves under the bigger leaves.   Even though, the Sizzlit leaves are retired, there is a similar leaf in the new "Flower Frenzy Bigz L" #133728.

When you place your order with me, please remember to use the current Hostess Code that is on my blog.  UNLESS your total is $150, then don't use it.

If your order is $25 or more, you will automatically receive the current month's Card Buffet (see more information about that on the Card Buffet tab on my home page) and you will also receive a thank you card with a little gift from me in appreciation of your order.

Hope you are making lots of Fall cards and enjoying the Fall weather!!!

Have a great day!!!
And, remember to take time to Paws N Stamp!

Happy November

My favorite time of year!!!

Now that summer is over, and has been for about a month or so, my most favorite time of year has begun!!

Our annual trek to the Pumpkin Patch happened on October 11th!!  We came home with a couple of pumpkins, some squash and corn.

It's a family dairy farm operated by close friends of ours and it's always fun to see what they have done each year with their pumpkin patch.

I come home and decorate with the gourds and dried Indian corn.  I think I love decorating for the Fall season even more than I do for Christmas.

I decided to keep it really simple this year.
My hubby is fixing us some Acorn squash!!  YUM!!

Now, I can concentrate on Thanksgiving.

I know that all the Christmas merchandise has been been out in the stores, for weeks, and will continue to grow by leaps and bounds as the weeks go along, but I refuse to succumb and I just take one holiday at a time.

Of course, that being said, it's sort of hard to get your Christmas cards done and out if you wait till after Thanksgiving to start them, so I have already started making mine.

I had a blast making fun Halloween cards and now am creating some Fall/Thanksgiving cards.

On November 8th, I will be joining with my up-line and having a Christmas Stamp A Stack.  It's going to be so much fun!!!

I also create special cards, each month, for my customers who place a qualifying $25 order, during the month.  It's call the Card Buffet!!

Every month, I create 10 different cards. Three, with a complete full color tutorial and 7 samples.  If you place a $25 or more order, in any given month, you will automatically be sent the Card Buffet via e-mail in PDF and WORD files.  This is my way to say THANK YOU for choosing me as your demonstrator.

Also, when you place your order, if you use the Hostess Code for the month, you will also receive a little gift from me.

I will post the Hostess Code to my blog, the first of each  month.

The hostess code adds your order to my open workshop, but your order will get processed immediately and sent out to you. You don't have to wait for the workshop to close.

But, IF your order qualifies for hostess gifts, ($150 or more) DO NOT use the hostess code...as I want you to receive the hostess gifts!

To be sure that I can send your gift and/or Card Buffet, be sure to check the box that allows me to contact you, if you.  Otherwise, I have no e-mail address with which to contact you.

You can find out more about the Card Buffet at the top of my Blog under the tab Card Buffet!

Enjoy your day and don't forget to take time to PawsNStamp!!
