Organizing Scraps

I don't know about you, but I hate to throw any scrap away that can be used for a card, later.  I was always digging through my scrap box to find just the right color for a project.

I would constantly be deciding is THIS the right blue, or THIS one.  Valuable time was wasted in the search.  I would always have to go get a piece of card stock and match it to make sure it was the right one.

Then, I got this bright idea while browsing through Wal Mart, one day.  I saw a plastic file cabinet for about $20.  I thought....HEY...this would work perfect. So, I bought some hanging files and came home and got them all set up with the names of all the SU card stock colors.

When I had a couple of hours to spare, I sat down and put my file folders tabs in with the names of all the colors of my SU card stock, alphabetically!

Then, each night while watching TV  I sat and started filing all of my card stock scraps.  It took a couple of nights, but I wasn't doing anything, anyway, so I figured I was making good use of my 'down' time.

Here is what I came up with:

It's SOOOO handy right next to my stamp table and I have made a conscious effort to file all my scraps after I am done with them.  Now, it is so easy to look for just the right piece.

Of course, if you use all different kinds of card stock from a lot of different companies, you may have to file just by color and put in dividers or something.

The bottom drawer holds my Tutorials.

I love looking for ways to make my stamp room more efficient for me, without spending lots of money!

Have a great day and don't forget to take time to Paws N Stamp!!
