Stew Recipe and Card Share

A couple of days ago, I shared a photo of the stew I had made and was asked how I made my stew. (card share to follow)

Well, to be honest, I don't have an actual recipe I follow, but here are the basic ingredients.

I start by putting my stew meat (cut into bite sized pieces) into my crock pot.  I then add the following ingredients:

1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 medium onion, chopped
2 ribs of celery, sliced (or I sometimes use celery salt)
2-3 cloves of garlic, minced (or I cheat and use garlic salt)
32 oz Beef Broth
2 cups of baby carrots
4-5 small potatoes, peeled and chopped into bite size pieces (about 3 cups)

I use a 6 qt crock pot and cook on high for about 5-7 hours depending on your crock pot with the lid on.  OR if I am going to be gone all day, then I might put it on low for about 10 hours.

I make a thickening agent with 1/4 cup of flour and 1/4 cup of water and add that to the stew to thicken it up (you can adjust that to your preference) and then add about 1 cup of either frozen or canned corn.

Cook, covered, for about 30 minutes more.  You can also add peas or other veggies....this is just how my family prefers it.

  2. You are so welcome!!! It's a really easy recipe but tastes really good and the good thing is that you don't have to watch the stove.
