WAG

WAG is over for yet another year and from the comments that were made and e-mails and
phone calls I have received, it was a success!
I drove over to Salem, OR on Thursday morning as we had to get set up for the weekend. One of my co-coordinators, Channie, came in that afternoon, also. Lori Beck and Andee White showed up not long afterwards.

We decided to go out to the Olive Garden for dinner. OH MY GOSH!!!! YUM YUM!!! I haven't been to Olive Garden since my last experience at another WAG event where a fly ended up in my pasta...ewwwww. This time, it was a lot of fun and the food was so good!

Friday morning, the plan was to meet by 11:30am, in the conference room, if you wanted to go shopping. I think we had 10 of us in two different vehicles. Big hint for next year, beat LORI to the ribbon!!! LOL

Of course, we HAD to go to lunch FIRST...so we headed for IZZY's....for their pizza, buffet and salad bar...YUM.

Then, we were OFF to go SHOPPPPPPPING!!! If you have never been on a group shopping expedition, you are missing out! Especially if you have several enablers in your group.

Our first stop was StampNCat Studio in Salem, OR. She is so great to us every year. She gave us a coupon and also had a make n take for all of us to do. She has a great variety in her store and also has lots of classes. You can even sign up for her newsletter....which is always a treat to read! Tell her Char sent ya ;-)

Then we headed on over to Craft Warehouse, where I found some things to throw in my basket....good gravy. Those girls are such enablers....LOL Warehouse is a good name for it! I could have spent hours in that store.

By then, it was time to head back to the hotel and get the evening started. There were introductions, challenges, games and just fun sharing!

I had them each make their very own 'designer' trash bag to put their scraps in. Here are some photos:

Somehow I missed a few people and their bags. :-(

On Saturday, we did 15 Shoebox projects and there were four demos. I will share the projects in another Blog.

Then, we had four demos Baggie books by Chan Dalrymple, Crop A Dile by Char Wilson, Party in a Bag by Kelly Eiseman and Watercolor Technique by Heather Schantz.

There were drawings throughout the day for prizes (including paper packs, stamp sets, a Sizzix Die, 2 Crop A Diles and 2 Totally Cool Totes....and Bea Rosenleaf donated 3 wonderful altered frames for prizes and a great tin with cards....I didn't get photos of those...so if any of you have those photos...please e-mail me and I will update this blog.

The finale`was the raffle for the Vituri bag. And, Chan D. won. She was so excited as she goes to the CK convention every year and like she says..."It's all about the BAG" Sorry I didn't get a photo of that.

Here is "Vanna" selling tickets for the raffle!
WAG was officially over at 5pm, Saturday night.....and some of the gals had to head for home. BUT.....it didn't end there LOL
Some of us were staying over another night. So, those that were hungry headed to the Olive Garden for dinner. TWICE in one weekend....be still my heart! Others stayed back at the hotel and played!
I didn't get more photos because the FOOD came....LOL
Afterwards, we went back to the hotel and stayed up and 'some' of us just goofed off, visited and did techniques.

Stacy Hinton and Lori Beck modeling the "Big Girl Panties"

Sunday morning, we said all of our goodbyes....but some of us die hards went out for breakfast....sort of a 'tradition' at WAG.

It was wonderful spending time with other Angels from WA, OR, ID, MT and just having fun and getting to know each other better.
We have already started planning next year's WAG!!!! ;-)

UPDATE on Nephew

HE IS HOME!!!!!! I got a call on my birthday as he was driving down to go see his Mom in Oregon. It was wonderful to hear his voice and to know he is back in the USA!!!

I can't wait to see him but it will be a month or two as he needs to acclimate back into a routine.
Thank you to all that have kept him in your prayers!!! And, for those that sent me cards to give to him.....I know that they will be so appreciated.

Now....if you could keep my Son's friend in your prayers. Jason is over in Iraq. He left about the same time we found out Kevin was coming home. This is Jason's second tour of duty in Iraq. He has a wife and two boys at home.

I know that there are a LOT of you with family/friends over in Iraq or other places. Let's keep them in our prayers daily!

Regardless of what your views are on the war ....pro/con.....these are our Son's, Daughters, Husbands, Wives, Brothers, Sisters, Nephews, Nieces, Grandchildren.......they are over there because they are fighting for our freedom.

When you see one of these soldiers, tell them THANK YOU!!!!! You wouldn't believe how much they are taken for granted, while we go about our daily lives.

Have a God Blessed Day!

WAG WAG WAG

Ok, it's finally THE DAY!!!! I will be leaving here in about four hours. I have everything packed and in the car and I am ready to roll!!!
For those of you that may not know what WAG is....it is the Western Angel Gathering held in Salem, OR in September. There are many such gatherings across the US.
These were started for the main purpose of being able to get together with other Angels in the area and get to know them better in a smaller environment.
Seminar is a blast but it can be a bit overwhelming, too.....so these smaller gatherings are just the ticket for getting to know everyone on a one to one basis and having a great time while doing it.
My two coordinators and I have been working hard for months and months to make sure this is the BEST one yet. We have 15 projects to share and lots of fun things to do. Of course, I can't divulge them today as you never know who reads the blog....LOL
BUT, when I get back, I plan on uploading the photos of all the projects for everyone to see. :-)
I have a few cards to share that I did while camping the first of the month. I limited myself to a few stamp sets, a few ink pads, basic supplies (REAL basic...lol) and some cardstock and background paper to see what I could come up with.
Here are the results:

Try it, the next time you go away from home. It's fun to limit yourself to the basics and just see what happens. Of course, it can be frustrating to because you want to reach for some ribbon, another stamp pad color, a few embellishments.....and you CAN'T!! But, you can always wait till you get back home to add these things ;-) I think that actually it helps with creativity because you DON'T have all those options available.

As you can see, I took the DCWV glitter stack and used that as my background paper. TAC doesn't carry that particular stack, but they do carry a couple of others. I just love the glittery background.
I noticed at my LSS that they now have the Christmas one. Ooooooooh, I have to get my hands on that one.
I am taking some basic supplies with me to WAG and hope to find time to get some personal stamping done. I am taking several stamp sets, all my ink pads and a boat load of paper. We'll see if it's conducive to 'creativity' or not! Should be a fun comparison. Of course, I won't be alone this time.....I'll have other Angels around to give their ideas, too.
Looking forward to sharing when I return!
Have a FantasTACical weekend!!!!
