And, yet one more remodeling project

Well, as you can see, he had his work cut out for him.

I thought he should take a week break first but he was anxious to get going on the job.

This is the stack of flooring he put down in our living room and hallway.

He has all the carpet tore up and is ready to begin but he will start near the dining room first.

We have all of our furniture from the living room crammed into the dining room so that he can work from the dining room out and then down the hall.

Then, he was ready to tackle the living room the next day.

What a job tearing out all that carpet!!  And, we were surprised to find some 'shortcuts' that the builders took in putting the floor down.

It's finished being laid down.  Now to put back all the baseboards and trim it out where it meets the linoleum in the dining room and the entry way.

Annie has to check it out.  It will be a learning curve for her as she gets used to the floors.

Next, is putting felt pads on all the furniture and moving it back into the living room.

I'll post a finished photo of our living room, later.

Oh what a difference these remodeling projects have made.  Our house isn't that old....not even 7 years old but it needed some updating.

See ya tomorrow!!

Another remodeling project

After we painted all of the rooms we had planned on painting, we had a new patio door installed.  My hubby did most of the preliminary work and the installer just had to come install the door and put on the extender kit.  (whatever that is).

This is basically what it looked like before.  It was a sliding glass patio door and we had blinds that you had to lift up every time you let the dog in or out, which was a lot of time during the day.  David ended up stringing that one set of blinds 3 times.

This is what the new patio doors look like.  The door on the left opens in like a regular door....and the one on the right stays stationery but you can make it so that they both open if you want to.

The blinds are between the two panes of glass.  So, no more pulling blinds up and down.  You just have a little slider thing that you move ever so slightly and you can adjust the blinds to how you want them.

My hubby (doing our taxes in the photo) did the trim work around the door after the installer installed the doors and then did the finish work outside around the door. And, he did all the work ahead of time getting the space ready to put the door in.

I LOVE it!!!!

Tomorrow, I'll share what else he did.

Happy Valentine's Day

Since I procrastinated and didn't get any Valentine's Day cards posted, before Valentine's Day, I'll just the ones we did in class last month.

 Quick and simple....I like that.
This was probably one of my favorite although it took some time to add all the elements to the card.

I thought this looked more like a masculine type card but it can be used for just about anyone.
I love the glitter paper we used on this card.  And, red and black was a different color combination than I had used for Valentine's Day before.
I liked this technique and it can be used for just about any type of card.
We made four other cards but they weren't Valentine's Day cards so I will share them later!

Enjoy your day!!!

Cleaning Stamp room/office

This is normally where I sit and stamp but as you can see it was piled full of stuff and even worse when my Sister was here.  But, after she left I began going through it all.

Slowly but surely, I got all the items put back where they belong and the desk is clean once again.

I have wall space above the L in my desk that I will add IKEA rails and put my punches on.

And, I am waiting for a stamp pad/reinker rack from Organizemore.com that my hubby bought for me.  That will go near my desk, as well.

I am contemplating ordering their ribbon organizer to so that will free up a drawer in my dresser in the closet.

All of the floor was clean but after she left, I just put everything down and started going through it.   I now have several boxes of stuff (not my punches, they are waiting for some Ikea rails) that I plan on selling at a garage sale.

The first order of business was to bring an old cupboard that I used to house my cookbooks in out in the dining room, to the stamp room.  I have all my household binders in there.

I went through everything in every Iris cart drawer and the dresser and got rid of stuff I no longer use or put it out in the garage in some Irish carts I have out there.

I found things I had forgotten I even had and figured if I hadn't used them since the last time I cleaned and reorganized, then I really didn't need them, including a lot of stamp pads that I just never use.

This is hubby's small spot in the office/stamp room.

We actually have three desks in here...one for my computer, one for his and the big stamping desk.

I hope to one day have another desk like my computer desk, for a stamping desk and that will free up some room since my stamping desk is an L shape.  Lots of room to stamp but makes for a very crowded office/stamp room.

Here is the tall organizer we got years and years ago when we were moving furniture for NAVL.  A customer sold it to us for $10.  It came in really handy when I started stamping years later.

Hubby installed vinyl shelving all the way around the room starting at my stamping desk and continuing over my computer desk and then around to the right of my desk.  I guess I didn't take photos of that.  But, it helped me to be able to get a bunch of little drawer units that we had stored on a big shelving unit prior to moving hubby's desk back in here.  If that makes sense.
The below units are what we took OUT of the stamp room so that we would have more room to bring hubby's desk in.  All of those little units on the first big shelving unit are now on vinyl shelves above my desks.  The Iris carts are out in the garage on those rubber maid units.  I keep things in there I don't use as often.

The punches are all in a tote waiting for when I can get to IKEA for Bygel rails and I will store them on those on the wall.  The CD/DVD unit is now out in the living room storing what it was intended to store :-)

Now to figure out what I can store my 12 x 12 card stock and designer papers on/in.  But, that's for another day!!

MIA but busy with house projects

It's been a long time since my last post.  I was even astonished at how long it's been.  I last posted on December 25th.  Wow.....I am WAY behind.  I have two month's worth of cards to share.

But, first, I want to catch you up, we celebrated Christmas and the New Year with both of our Granddaughters here and then my older Sister came to visit for a week mid January.

Then, we got busy doing some projects around the house.  First, we painted the living room, dining room, hallway and ceilings.  We used Pumpkin Butter by Behr.
It's really all the same color, it just looks different because it was taken in different lighting at different times of the day.

Then, we had a patio door installed.  David did all the prep work and trim afterwards.
I like it so much better than the sliding glass doors that were there before.  And, the blinds are on the inside of the windows!!!  Yeah, no more cleaning THOSE blinds.

I helped with the painting.  But, after we got that done and before we started our next major project, I began cleaning and organizing my stamp room.

More tomorrow!!
