It's finished!!!

This is what this corner of my stamp room looked like before painting.  I had removed everything in the room and closet except for the shelves.

The book case that is in the closet used to sit in front of the window, before.  I had a dresser in the closet and stored things in the drawers and had a bank of Iris carts on either side of the dresser.  It was just way too crowded.  And, I had those Iris carts FILLED....but didn't use most of the stuff in them.

Now, I just have the book case which houses my SU clear sets and Big Shot items.

The Iris cart to the right, may or may not stay depending on whether or not I actually USE the items stored inside.

This view is looking straight on at the east side of my stamp room.  I have Bygel Rails to hold my SU punches. The Iris carts below store my most used items.  Next to that is a roll around cart the holds my Big Shot and then below that are my shipping supplies.

A closer look at the Bygel Rails.  I love this way of storing my punches.
The little hanging rack with jars inside are used for embellishments.  I am not sure what I am going to do with the hanging buckets...but they are PURPLE...what's not to like :-)

The clock, I made myself when I was with another stamping company.  I need to update it using current stamps.
Here is a side view of my stamping desk and vinyl shelves above.

I really don't like having my printer on my office desk but there was no where else to put it as the roll around cart that USED to hold it wouldn't fit in that space anymore.
A closer look at my desk area.  I have a stamp pad/re-inker organizer that my husband bought me for my birthday.  He got it at Organizemore.com.  I love it!!!!
Next to that, to the left, is a cute little divided tray that I sat on end...to house my bottles of Stampin Up Dazzling Details.

I have two turn around holders that hold my most used stamping essentials like scissors, cutting tools etc.
To the far right against the wall is a little spice holder unit that I have all my glues, spritzers and stamp pad misters etc.

Above the desk on the lower vinyl shelves are three drawer organizers that house things that I use most often on my cards, including adhesives, different embellishments, acrylic mounts and other things.
On the top shelf are items I use but maybe not quite as often.
You see the little roll around file cart on the left under the table?  That's to store the In Color card stock.  You will see why, soon.

This is a paper organizer that I got online years ago when some place was going out of business....I think it might have cost $19 back then.  After I received it, I hurried to buy another one...but they were all sold out completely :-(  Oh well.  It's made from metal and corrugated cardboard.  It's held up pretty well all these years.

I added labels to each cubby....with the name of my SU 8 1/2 x 11 card stock.  Like I mentioned before, there wasn't room for the IN colors in this unit so I had to have them in the roll around file cart.
I had to add something to make it a little more above the unit to make it more enjoyable to look at.  The picture above is one I bought years ago.....but never have put it in a frame.  I still need to do that.

The calendar on the top of the unit was one that was made for me a couple of years ago by a friend.  I still keep it even though it's out of date and I haven't had time to 'update it'.

This is my computer desk area.  Right now there isn't a lot above my desk and that's OK.  As I go along, I'll decide what to store up above.
Here is a view of my desk area and my 12 x 12 vinyl paper holder that a friend of my Sister's gave to me when visiting AZ, this past November.  I was ecstatic to get it....and now have a really cool place to store my designer papers. THANKS RODDI!!!

A closer view so you can see the Vinyl racks even better.

The one to the left, we paid $10 for from a customer that we were moving from one state to another.  She just didn't want it....and I was so happy to take it off her hands.  That was when we were owner operators of our own semi and were leasing to North American Van Lines.

Anyway, that was in the late 80's and it's been in several homes since then and always came in extremely handy, usually for storing cleaning products in the garage or whatever.  I finally got to use in my stamp room when we moved here 7 years ago.  I keep extra supplies here as it's usually hidden by the door when it's open.

The wooden box to the far right was acquired at a garage sale, I am sure.  I used to lay it on it's side and it would hold different things but there was no where to lay it, so I just stood it on end and it houses my SU catalogs and spiral notebooks etc.

Well, that's the tour of my  newly redone stamp room!!  I am going to be so excited when I have finished some other projects and can actually sit down and STAMP again!!!

Right now, I am just enjoying the sky blue look of my room....and it makes me so happy to be in here!  I am still contemplating whether or not to add 'clouds' to the ceiling!!

Have a fantastic weekend!!!

Hugs,
Char

Another room share and Tuesday Deals

Well, the room is coming along.  We finished the painting and are now waiting for David to lay down the Pergo flooring, which he is starting to do, today.  Since he fell a little behind with that project, it may be a few more days before he can finish it.
Someone asked to see the new light fixture.  Well, it's not fancy but boy does it put out the light.

Here is our original one (well, this is in our bedroom but it's the exact same one as was in the stamp room, only the stamp room one only had one light bulb).  Sorry it turned out blurry.

This is the new one.  A lot more streamlined and boring but it puts out the light and the salesperson said it should last up to 30 years as there is no bulb involved....it's LED.

Today is Tuesday, which means that Stampin' UP has their weekly Tuesday deals!

Hope you have a fantastic day!!!

The Painting....blech

Here is the first stroke of paint!  I went with a different color, altogether, than the one I had picked out 'online' as when we got to Home Depot, the color I thought I wanted was a LOT different than what I had thought it was.  The original color I had picked was called Utah sky.

8 oz. #560A-3 Utah Sky Interior/Exterior Paint Sample
But when we got in there, it was a lot more vivid than I had thought.

So, we went with this color, Sweet Blue. 8 oz. #580E-3 Sweet Blue Interior/Exterior Paint Sample
I really had intended to get a color like the original one but after we looked through hundreds of colors, the Sweet Blue just caught my attention.  Now, when you look at IT and the color on the ceiling....it doesn't look the same, either....but after it dries, it's not quite as vibrant.  I was going for a softer blue look.
It still looks rather bright, but I assure you....it's softer when it dries.  I really like it!
I don't know why the colors don't look the same as the samples, it really makes it harder to choose a color.

Here you can see that it is a lot more like the sample...but still not as muted as the sample showed.  But, we like it!!  David is putting the shelving back up and then I got to do all the trim work.
The difference between our light sage green walls that we had before and now the softer blue!!  It just makes me 'happy' to walk into the room!!  I even thought of sponging some clouds on the ceiling....but not sure I'll go through with it!

David installed a new light fixture on the ceiling replacing the old one that only had one light bulb in it.  We had originally gone in the store thinking we'd get one with two light bulbs and the salesperson suggested we try the LED one.  She said they last up to 30 years and are a lot brighter.  So, even though it was more expensive than we had planned....we decided to go ahead and try it.

After it was in, we turned it on and we couldn't believe how much light it put out.  Now I don't have to feel as though I am in a dungeon.   I'll still need some lighting over my desk area but that's down the road.

Now, to think about WHAT will come back into the room and what won't!!!  We decided to just go ahead and make it our office/craft room like we had before and figured if I don't bring in a lot of 'stuff',  it won't feel so crowded.

Then, after this project is finished....I get to start on the guest room!!!

More updates coming!!

Remember, Sale-A-Bration start on Jan 28th and that is a time you can earn free items with every $50 in products ordered.

In the meantime, SU has some really cool Valentine ideas here.
I am ordering those adorable monster Valentines as I know I won't have time to make anything before Valentine's Day and get them mailed, with my room in a complete mess!

Have a great day!!!

Thorough Make over of my stamp room

Well, here we go again!!!  My craft room has always been a 'work in progress' but this time, we are going to make it over so that it isn't an office AND a craft room but totally a craft room, with one exception....we will need to have a guest bed in there for guests and when our Granddaughters come to visit.

I was going to show how the room looked before we 'gutted' it, but couldn't find any recent photos.  I know I have some, somewhere, but will have to post them later so you can see the difference between the two.

Anyway, here is the start!

Annie wondering what the heck is going on here!
Left the closet shelves and the Bygel rails up and can paint the other parts of the room and then when that is dry...move the stuff that wasn't boxed up to the shelves on the other side.
Looks strange without the vinyl shelves on there but we didn't want to take out the screws so I figured I would just paint around them.
Ok, we are ready!!!  Now just have to make a fast trip into Home Depot and HOPEFULLY pick out some paint!!!  There are THOUSANDS of options and I don't do well with a lot of choices ;-)

Wish us luck!!!

Have a great day!!!

Slowly but surely and photos of Bryce Canyon

I have been back home since just before Thanksgiving but having been away for almost a month, a person gets out of their normal routine.  And, when you couple that with the holidays, oh my word....I never realized it would just throw me for such a loop!!

Then, add to that having our Granddaughters here for several weeks and one of them that needed to use my craft room/office as her bedroom.....that made it even harder to get back on track.

Hence, I came to realize that we can never take a 'month' off for a vacation again....and NEVER just before the holidays!   I even took three tubs full of stamping supplies to get in some stamping....but we were always so exhausted by the time we got to our motel room, at night, that I didn't even remove them from the SUV.    :-(

So, a lesson learned!!

Since coming home, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years sort of took over. I did get a few cards made but not as many as I normally get done and sent.  Another reason to not take a vacation near the holidays.

What I did get accomplished was to really spend some really good quality time with both Granddaughters!!  That will trump stamping or crafting, any day ;-)

We did get a lot of wonderful photos of our trip.  My husband's camera was stolen when our car got broken into on the way home, so we 'lost' those photos but I always keep mine in my purse, so I have my photos from both my camera and my phone.

The only thing is, although I got some gorgeous shots, it's mostly landscapes and trees.  I love trees in the Fall and there were so many opportunities to take shots of trees.  My Hubby just rolled his eyes because a 'tree' is a 'tree' to him.....but I got trees at different National Parks and along different routes.  I also found myself, when I was a tad bored, taking photos of clouds.  I promise not to share those.  :-) After I got home, I thought to myself, what was I thinking?

Anyway, here are some of my favorite shots taken at Bryce Canyon, but let me tell you right now, they do not do the park justice.  If you have never been to Bryce Canyon in UT....put it on your bucket list.....I have seen photos for years but NOTHING compares to seeing it up close and personal.

My hubby, David, looking over the edge at Bryce Canyon.

The reddish colors are so much more vivid in person.

And this last one was one of many that I took at Zion National park.
We visited The Arches, Bryce Canyon and Zion and went through Capitol Reef and near Canyon lands but didn't take the road to either one.  Each one is so amazing yet different.  I am glad we went to The Arches first...as it was really awesome.....but after seeing Bryce....it paled (to me) in comparison.  Zion was beautiful, as well.....but you have to appreciate each one for their own and unique beauty.

I'll share more in the days to come and maybe even share some cards I made, even though Christmas is over now.

Have a fabulous day!!!  And, remember, you can access my SU webpage anytime during the day, here.  Check often to see the newest specials and what's new!!

Definitely November

Well, it's most definitely November, now!!!  Wow.....as I always tell my hubby and kids....once September hits.....Christmas isn't far away.  And, it's so true!!!

September was full of birthdays and getting ready to send our Granddaughter off to college.  We couldn't wait for October so that we could take our annual trip to the Pumpkin Patch.....and then the rest of the month seemed to fly by!!!

Yesterday, I took our cat, Tinker, to the boarder and we are going to take a little vacation!!  This is the vacation we were planning when our Granddaughter came to live with us...or one like it.  But, we wouldn't trade the 3 1/2 years that she lived with us for any vacation!!!

First stop, our Granddaughter, at college, to take her some Pumpkin Pies :-)  She loves my pumpkin pie and she told me she has refrigerators all over her dorm ready and waiting to 'host' one!  :-)  So, I am taking 5 pies to her.  She can choose to whom they go :-)

I plan on continuing to blog while on our trip, so stay tuned!!  You never know what I might blog about.  I might not get many cards finished, to share, until we get to our destination and then I plan on having a few card making days with my Sister and her friend.

I'll try to post the Stampin' UP! specials as I can.  But, I know, for me....I am always more interested in card ideas.....and yes....I always seem to need the supplies to make them....but I LOVE ideas!!!

So, for today, I had to re-post my little Scarecrow card that I made last year for this time of year!!

I love the Top Note Die....it is so stinkin much fun to create different things with.

Ok....hubby is chomping at the bit....so I'll click send....and away we go!!!

Stay warm.....

Hugs,
Char

Simply Fabulous Simply Sent

Have you ever needed a beautiful card but really didn't have time to sit down and create one?

Well, the simply Fabulous Simply Sent card does the work for you..........well, almost!!

This kit, from Stampin' UP!, comes with 8 laser edged cards, 8 envelopes, 8 pieces of 1/8" Taffeta ribbon, 30 adhesive backed rhinestones and 72 cardstock sticker hearts.  You can create 8 cards in just a short time.

All you need to do is basically stamp a sentiment, add your ribbon, rhinestones and stickers and you are finished.

I have to admit, I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to it when I first saw it in the catalog.....THEN, I got one in the mail from a friend and was truly impressed.   I hadn't ordered it yet....but as soon as I saw it, I had to order a couple of sets.

There is also a stamp set that works GREAT with it.  It's called Million & One .

You know, I just thought of it, but this would make a great gift, as well, for those that want to get started with stamping but are a little intimidated.  Such an easy, beautiful card!!!

Hope you have something FUN planned for today!!!

Have a great day!!!
