Sympathy Cards

These are not the types of cards one likes to have a lot of in their stash but when I was making a sympathy card for some friends that had lost their Dad back in May, I decided to make a bunch of them.

Thankfully, I didn't have to use any till just this past week when three different people lost loved ones.

The cards were basically all the same except for the flowers and possibly the color of the ribbon.

I like to have all kinds of cards made up in advance but I had never thought to do Sympathy cards before.  It just didn't feel right for some reason.   But, in reality, it's really no different than having a stash of birthday, get well, thinking of you or any other type card.

In these three instances, I was so relieved to know I had made up extra cards as we have been remodeling and my stamp room was really a mess.

What about you?  Do you make up cards ahead of time for times like these when you are just too busy to sit down and make up a card?  OR...do you like to do them as the events happen?

Have a great day,

  1. Such pretty punched edges and ribbon flowers! I like to have cards made ahead for a variety of occasions, but end up making them as I need them a lot of the time so they are made especially for a certain person.

  2. It's a beautiful card even if it's for a sad occasion. I should make more cards so I have them but never seem to get them made.

  3. Char, this card is absolutely beautiful. I am honored that you sent me one this week. My mom's favorite flowers were roses and these on the card remind me of her. Plus, I'd recently seen a picture frame online made with these type flowers so it was nice to see them in person.

To answer your question, when I was stamping, I liked to make up cards in advance in case I didn't have time to sit down and make one, but often one of the ready made ones didn't seem to fit the person, so I would make a special one if I could.
