Ship Card Challenge

Well, I did it!!!  Not sure I am extremely happy with the results, but I got two cards made with the The Open Sea stamp set from Stampin' UP!.

After stamping the image, I could see that it was not exactly like the other stamp from the other company.  Close....very close....but after I really looked at the other stamp, it was all one stay.  The map and ship on the top layer.

So, I had to play with the SU stamp to come up with something similar.  I also really checked it out and there are some slight differences to the ship, too, but you can't really tell at first glance.

Anyway.....
Here is the original one that I was trying to recreate, here.

Of course, I had no DSP that even slightly resembled the other photo from the other day.  So, I had to recreate something that sort of looked similar.  So, I stamped the map image in Soft Suede onto a piece of Naturals White card stock.  Then, I sponged Marina Mist, So Saffron and lightly sponged Soft Suede.  I stamped the world map onto a piece of Sahara sand....and then stamped the ship on top using Early Expresso ink.
The first card that I made, I used Marina Mist card stock and didn't care for the outcome so am not sharing it.
Then, I decided to try and recreate the 'blue' in the original card.  So, I stamped as before but this time onto a piece of Soft Sky card stock and then sponged with Sahara Sand, Early Expresso and So Saffron.

I added a little anchor that I stamped and cut out. I also cut the ship out and mounted it with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I am still not completely happy with my results....so will probably play with it a little more.

Have a great day and remember to Paws N Stamp!!!
